Intern Training Day One

We have just finished our first week of Intern Training. It was an overall success! The main point of intern training is to equip and prepare the students for the year, train them in certain areas (discipleship, overall ministry duties, and even how to clean the building), and build community among staff. We did all of these things in different ways.

Our Internship Core Values are fun, intimacy, community, and mission, we focused on each of those things the first day. When the interns got there, we had a performance called "Wesley the Musical" it was definitely fun! Some of the directors wrote and performed a musical that hit on the things that make Wesley, Wesley! After the musical, we transitioned into a time of guided prayer and worship for them. This focused on the intimacy part. Next, we had a dinner for them, which focused on the community part and lastly, we rented out the UGA Chapel and had staff from UGA come and talk to them about being missional...which portrayed the mission part.
The theme for intern training was "Go Local." We talked about encouraging the interns to get into their neighborhoods and apartment complexes and "love their neighbor."  We decorated the intern office for dinner in a "Go Local, Athens GA" theme. Here are some pictures from the first day!
